Oakleigh Greek Orthodox College

A Coeducational Greek Orthodox College

The Oakleigh Greek Orthodox College commenced its operations in 1983. Since then, the love and interest which our Community has shown towards it confirms its sound decision to proceed with the establishment of a College, despite the enormous difficulties encountered while undertaking the task.

We have no doubt that future generations will look to them with gratitude for their foresight.

Children of Greek descent have the opportunity to attend a College which, as well as providing the education offered by other private schools, equips them with the long-lasting values of our Greek heritage and Orthodox Christian faith and traditions.

The most important objective of Oakleigh Greek Orthodox College is to integrate the best of Australian Education with the finest that Hellenism and Orthodoxy have given the world throughout the centuries.

Drawing on these two main sources our College provides full educational training, but places equal importance, also, on the development of good character to over 600 boys and girls from the Early Learning Centre to Year 12.

More specifically, the College aims to develop positive attitudes by helping students to achieve self-esteem and to be proud of their origin and identity. It aims to provide excellent education for all its students, developing their talents and capabilities to the highest level possible.

The motto of the College "Faith and Wisdom" attests:

  • That Sts. Anargiri is a place where students experience living in a community where the values of the Greek Orthodox Faith form the centre around which all else flows.
  • That the school's curriculum integrates the spiritual, moral, social, physical and academic, for the development of each student's maximum potential.
  • That the school’s curriculum aims at the pursuit of excellence and the enrichment of student experience with the values, customs and traditions of both the Australian and Greek heritage.
  • That students of the College, whether they be young or old, are encouraged to develop skills and concepts, not only in the core areas of language, numeracy and technology, but also in the creative, imaginative and artistic fields of study.
  • That, thus equipped and enriched, Sts. Anargiri students would come to self-awareness of their own unique identity and be able to make a positive and valuable contribution to the contemporary multicultural Australian society and to the vision of our nation's future.
